Ronald Reagan Courthouse

Santa Anna, California
Designer: Gruen Associates & Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership
General Contractor: Ray Wilson Company

The first challenge of this extensive project was sourcing enough plain sliced cherry. Each courtroom required 10,000 square feet of cherry veneer, which was sequenced and balance matched throughout. We matched the furniture components to the wall paneling, which required our veneer lay-up expert to study the drawings for each room carefully. Individual logs were selected to create veneered panels with the best possible match.

A special feature of the courtroom is the cornice at the top of the wall paneling, with a 15 ½” radius. Veneer coverings were vacuum pressed onto the moldings to match the paneling. The resulting fine detail adds to the classical design.
