Liberty Center

Portland, Oregon
Designer: GBD Architects
General Contractor: Hoffman Construction Company

The main lobby at Liberty Centre features contrasting wood accents for an unusual and interesting appearance. These align with the interior and elevator door heads, soffits and the wood base at the second floor sky bridge. The alignment was dictated throughout by the storefronts either side of the building. To ensure correct alignment, we took extreme care in laying out and then field dimensioning. All of the paneling was pre-sized at the plant.

The grain pattern in the paneling runs in different directions, depending on the level. Panels with grain running vertically feature highly figured Anigre veneer. Panels oriented in a horizontal pattern feature quarter sawn maple veneer. The latter required special attention for veneer end matching.
